DANIELLE BRYANT
Danielle Bryant was born in Scottsdale, AZ. She currently lives in Phoenix, AZ with her significant other and their 4-year old son, Jack. Danielle has been living with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) since her diagnosis in Tulsa, OK back in the spring of 1991. After a major battle in the mid 90's, she moved back to Arizona to start a new life and her sole mission to conquer the disease.
Danielle has been a personal trainer in the private sector for over eight years. She found the love of training shortly after she began the pursuit to control the disease and not allow the disease to control her. Through the years she has trained a number of people, both young and old, to help them find the path to their internal life achievement. I merely provide the tools and ignite the fire within each of them - they do the work to make it count she says. Danielle is the Director of National Construction for the Athletes' Performance and Core Performance Centers. Her primary role is to implement a seamless construction approach with a powerful building execution for various centers across the country.
In 2007, Danielle was featured in the April issue of the Fitness Plus Magazine called "Never Stop Moving Constant - exercise improves her life". You can read her early testimony about how RA affected her sports career in the book called Trials and Triumphs by Katie Morgan. In 2005, she was ranked among the top five Women in Construction for the state of Arizona. She was the recipient of the 2002 and 2003 Arizona Subcontractor Association (ASA) Project Manger of the Year 1st Runner Up Award and received an additional five nominations for this award since the year 2000. She has received many awards and accolades including the first female project manager nomination in history from the ASA.
Danielle's community efforts include starting the Make It Count For Dani annual fundraiser benefiting the Arthritis Foundation. In her first and second year, Danielle became the top fundraiser for the local Arthritis Foundation chapter. Danielle enjoys doing work for the community and believes that making a difference is what life is all about. She plans to continue to strive to bring awareness to the community about arthritis for years to come.
ALEXIS MUSKA
I'm Alexis Muska and I'm this year's Jingle Bell Run Walk Honorary Chair. At birth I was believed to have Lupus, and I had to go to so many specialists all over the state, until I was officially diagnosed at the age of five. I've had to move a lot to stay near my doctors, and missed out on some friendships that would have or already had blossomed into great ones.
Despite the negativity, my mindset was always like a normal, healthy child. If there was an activity I really enjoyed and had to miss out on, I'd alter the qualifications and play my own version. I never let my disability get me down, even when the struggle was almost unbearable. I've accepted who I am and the special precautions I need to take through life.
My favorite things to do are hanging out with my friends, and swimming. I love being outside, and I constantly try to apply myself a little bit further in things others tell me I "can't" do. I'm happy to be this year's Honorary Chair in the Jingle Bell Run. Please come and join me on December 5 and we can prove to those "can't" people that we can! It will be loads of fun, holiday cheer, and being surrounded by family and friends. Sounds like a great time to me! Hope to see you there!
